Dear Friends,

Thank you for your interest in the ministries of Trinity United Methodist Church! This Historic Downtown Congregation is excited to be a part of the downtown renewal of Durham, NC. Our vision for ministry is to Serve Christ from the heart of the City. We seek to experience the Love of God in Jesus Christ, share God's Love in Word and Deed, and invite others to faithful living to the Kingdom of God.

Worship is central to the life of Trinity United Methodist Church with an excellent music ministry. We have two worship services each Sunday morning. An informal worship is held in the church parlor at 8:45 with Holy Communion each Sunday and a traditional liturgical worship at 11am in the sanctuary. We are in the process of developing a highly participatory, radically welcoming Sunday Evening Worship designed for seekers, non-church, and de-churched persons. This service is to begin monthly in the fall of 2008.

The members of Trinity seek to Share God's love in word and deed by a multitude of outreach ministries. We offer quarterly Pancakes for the People breakfast for anyone hungry; we serve monthly meals at Urban Ministries; we host weekly Narcotics Anonymous meetings; we partner with persons coming out of prison through our Reconciliation and Reentry Ministry; and provide office space for Habitat for Humanity. We believe that our faith calls us to engage the pain of the world.

We are becoming a ChristCare Congregation, developing a small group ministry where persons can intentionally seek to grow in their faith through Worship and Prayer, Biblical Equipping, Community Building and Care, and Missional service. We are presently recruiting Group Leaders and hope to have ChristCare groups running by November of 2008.

Good things are happening at Trinity United Methodist Church and there is a place for you to grow in faith and serve in ministry.

This internet site provides lots of information. We invite you to not only learn about us through this Web site, but to experience firsthand the vitality and caring of this fellowship. Come to the heart of Downtown Durham and we pray that you will find a place to belong and serve.

Grace and Peace,

Rev. Duke C. Lackey
