Mission Teams

Trinity members have joined with our fellow United Methodist churches in supporting tornado relief. Teams have helped clean up and restore devastated communities. Some have already participated in various mission projects, both in foreign countries and in United States communities in need, including missions to Peru, the Bahamas, Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina, and the Appalachians. With support from other Trinity members, four Trinity members were part of a mission team building a home for orphans in the Bahamas in March, 2011. Planning is underway for possible follow-up missions to New Orleans, the Bahamas orphanage, and Haiti.

The MERCI Center trains volunteers to respond to disasters. MERCI Center has an agreement with UMCOR to serve as a National Response Depot in the UMCOR Relief Supply Network. MERCI collects, assembles, packs and stores cleaning buckets, health kits, birthing kits, and school kits on a year-round basis. When severe weather or other disasters strike, MERCI Center is able to respond within the UMCOR network and ship these materials to areas of need in the US and beyond.
