Reconciliation and Reentry Ministry

This ministry, established through the Outreach Ministry and the Thursday Morning Men's breakfast, is an opportunity for Trinity to surround a person with God's love and support as he or she seeks to re-engage with the community after time in prison. Our task is to provide positive friendship, love, and support as he or she seeks to begin anew.

Trinity has sponsored 6 persons striving to re-center their lives following prison terms and/or personal challenges through the re-entry and reconciliation team.  This team of 7 individuals works with the Durham Criminal Justice Resource Center (CJRC) in assisting people making adjustments following incarceration.  The goal of this team is to provide alternative support to the environment these individuals came from prior to prison and through Christian love to mentor them as needed toward a productive life experience in the community.  The team members covenanted to one year of service with R&R.  We now have the opportunity to open team membership to others who may be interested in working with our partners (usually one at a time) to support and encourage them as they adjust to life after prison.  Marcia Owen from the CJRC is willing to conduct an information session for anyone interested in following up on this ministry on Sunday Dec. 5th following the 11:00 worship service.  Please sign-up to join us and learn more about this important ministry.  A sign-up sheet is available outside the church office.
