Genesis 22:17-18

17 I will indeed bless you, and I will make your offspring as numerous as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of their enemies, 18 and by your offspring shall all the nations of the earth gain blessing for themselves, because you have obeyed my voice.”

Luke 14:10-24

10 But when you are invitedgo and sit down at the lowest placeso that when your host comeshe may say to you, ‘Friendmove up higher’; then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you11 For all who exalt themselves will be humbledand those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

12 He said also to the one who had invited him, When you give a luncheon or a dinnerdo not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighborsin case they may invite you in returnand you would be repaid13 But when you give a banquetinvite the poorthe crippledthe lameand the blind14 And you will be blessedbecause they cannot repay youfor you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

The Parable of the Great Dinner

15 One of the dinner guests, on hearing this, said to him, “Blessed is anyone who will eat bread in the kingdom of God!” 16 Then Jesusd said to him, Someone gave a great dinner and invited many17 At the time for the dinner he sent his slave to say to those who had been invited, ‘Comefor everything is ready now.’ 18 But they all alike began to make excusesThe first said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of landand I must go out and see itplease accept my regrets.’ 19 Another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxenand I am going to try them outplease accept my regrets.’ 20 Another said, ‘I have just been marriedand therefore I cannot come.’ 21 So the slave returned and reported this to his masterThen the owner of the house became angry and said to his slave, ‘Go out at once into the streets and lanes of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blindand the lame.’ 22 And the slave said, ‘Sirwhat you ordered has been doneand there is still room.’ 23 Then the master said to the slave, ‘Go out into the roads and lanesand compel people to come inso that my house may be filled24 For I tell you,e none of those who were invited will taste my dinner.’ ”

Matthew 5:14-16

14 “You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. 15 No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.

Acts 1:8

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
