Trinity Sunday

Sunday, May 26, 2024

Join Trinity for worship this Trinity Sunday. Reverend Tobi Nguyen will deliver the preached word. Come and be blessed!

What is Trinity Sunday?

The first Sunday after Pentecost is the Festival of the Holy Trinity. On this day, the church rejoices in the impenetrable mystery that God is triune (three-in-one) -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. How the Lord can be one God in three distinct persons is completely beyond the ability of any human to understand. By the power of the Holy Spirit, Christians accept this incomprehensible mystery as a fundamental article of faith.

Eastway Elementary School Thanks You, Trinity, for Your Love and Generous Spirit

Eastway Elementary School Thanks You, Trinity, for Your Love and Generous Spirit God’s wonders never cease. Thank you, Trinity Family, for your generosity in outfitting rising Eastway Elementary School kindergartners looking forward to their first year of school. Remembering the thrill of new school supplies—your own, your children’s, your grandchildren’s-- you have provided for children unknown to you, but beloved by our Lord. Twenty-one children will be so excited to receive brand new book bags filled with the necessary items you have lovingly provided. Extra supplies that Trinity provided will fill other book bags for many more children, as well. The staff and faculty had visions of the special treats “dancing in their heads” all afternoon. In the words of Genee Murray Maddox, Child and Family Support Leader at Eastway, “Your generosity embodies the spirit of compassion and unity that makes our community so strong.” The smiles on the faces of the delivery team and Eastway faculty have never shone brighter. Joy is contagious!

Eastway Elementary School is transitioning to a year-round calendar for the upcoming school year. Families, faculty and staff will spend the weeks after school is out this year preparing for the coming changes. Please check the Trinity Prayer List in The Steeple in upcoming weeks as we hold the Eastway family’s hands in both our hearts and our prayers through this shorter summer break.

Moving Miss Peggy

Moving Miss Peggy

Book Discussion - May 30th - 6:00 pm

The story of a family helping their mother to face dementia and learning to love each other again in the process.

“I am not ever going to get to go home, am I?," she said one day. This is the story of moving Miss Peggy to a new place to live, to a new way of life, to a new kind of reality. All of which became necessary because Miss Peggy had begun to live a life colored by dementia. All of us who love her have begun to live that new life with her. Some of that story is here as well.

In Moving Miss Peggy, we also meet the story of siblings, grown apart over years, with nothing in common except for a mother who in wrestling through her own challenges gave each grown child the gift of a deeply felt reunion, long years after any of them suspected there was a possibility of reconciling grace.
Written with grace, candor and bittersweet humor, Moving Miss Peggy tells a story that many others are now facing, bringing strength and wisdom and inspiration to readers. We learn (and learn again) along with Miss Peggy and her family some of the very basics for living life well.

**UPDATED** Volunteers Needed to Feed Children and Families!

Our work to serve and support the families and children from the Freedom School summer camp is approaching, and we still need volunteers. Starting on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, and continuing for the following four Tuesdays, we will feed the families and kids of the camp with much-needed dinner! We will host 5 Tuesday night (6/25, 7/2, 7/9, 7/16, 7/23) dinners at Epworth UMC. We will need volunteers for each dinner from 4 to 6 (PM). We already have a meal plan and strategy, but we still need a few more volunteers for each dinner! Volunteering is easy and rewarding, and signing up is super easy, too; just click the link to our Sign-up Genius ad below and find dinner and a role that works for you!
