C4C Mission Project. Introducing New Members. Ash Wednesday Worship Service.

Trinity United Methodist Church
The Steeple for February 10, 2023
This Sunday

This Sunday

Sunday, February 12, 2023

Join us this Sunday for the 3rd part of the Sermon on the Mount series. In this week's passage, we will see not only the importance of relationships within the body but also the relationship of the church with the wider community. How can we lift community concerns or needs in our prayer times? What acts of service within the community are already in place that we can celebrate? What additional needs could be met, or invitations issued? Who is missing from the body of the church? Jesus calls us to go above and beyond in our attempts to see all the people. We will be streaming online at trinitydurham.org or YouTube. The Scripture readings will be from Psalm 119:1-8 and Matthew 5:21-48. We hope you will join us!

C4C's School Supplies Mission Project & New Volunteer Opportunities

February 12-March 5, 2023

Trinity’s Congregations for Children is delighted to announce our next mission project for Eastway Elementary School. By February, school supplies are depleted, and teachers must buy new supplies with their own funds or do without.

In addition, Eastway’s administration welcomes in-person volunteers to read to classes, work one-on-one with individual children, or organize games for children during recess times.  If you have other ideas, please let us know! Call or email Mary Beth Markham (919-489-0044 or marybeth.markham@gmail.com) for more information on how to get started.

Our mission pews are ready for your items to be placed on them. If you prefer, you may mail a check to Trinity UMC with C4C on the memo line, and committee members will shop for you. The most needed supplies are listed below. As much as possible, please bring name-brand items since they tend to last longer.

Shopping List:

Elmer’s Glue Sticks • Tape • Composition books (black and white marbled cover) • Colored Paper • Expo Dry Erase Board Cleaner • Colored pencils • Markers • Crayons • Sharpies • Pens (black, blue) • White Out • Clorox Wipes or similar cleaning supplies

Beth Schartiger

Beth was first attracted to Trinity by a picture on the website depicting a diverse congregation. But when she entered the front door, she found so much more. She started serving with Open Table Ministry, and it has opened her eyes to the many opportunities to serve people in the community.

"I was repeatedly greeted with warm and sincere welcomes which continued into the sanctuary.  The Holy Spirit that led me to Trinity was alive and well with every encounter and swelled with every note that sang to my soul. God indeed led me to this holy place for which I am forever thankful."
