Covid-19 Updates:

During this time of COVID-19, choirs at Trinity UMC are not meeting except through Zoom meetings and occasional in-person, socially distanced gatherings. If you would like to be involved, we welcome your participation! Please contact Rev. Patti Lingafelt, Minister of Music for more information ( Soloists, singers and instrumentalists are providing musical leadership for online worship services; you are welcome to contact Rev. Lingafelt if you are interested in participating in this way.

A strong music ministry has been an integral part of Trinity UMC’s long history. We view music ministry as a way for individuals and choirs to use their talents to glorify God, not as a professional performance. People with all levels of musical experience are welcomed into music ministry at Trinity as we lead worship that helps worshippers “to be steeped in the faith, overflowing with gratitude, and motivated by love."

Trinity Choir

Comprised of all interested participants, youth through adult, this choir provides worship leadership through music most Sundays of the year, with a few weeks off in the summer. Regular rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. In addition, the Trinity Choir invites congregation members who cannot commit to weekly rehearsals and services throughout the year to join the Christmas Choir for a special musical presentation during Advent, such as a cantata or Service of Lessons and Carols. Rehearsals generally begin in October and are held weekly for the first 30 minutes of regular choir practice time. Contact Rev. Patti Lingafelt if interested.

Trinity Ringers

Trinity UMC owns 5 octaves of Schulmerich handbells and 3 octaves of Malmark choir chimes. Trinity Ringers practice on Wednesday evenings from 6:15-7:15. The group is open to ringers youth through adult. This group rings in worship services periodically throughout the school year. Some music reading ability is required. New ringers are welcome after consultation with director. Contact Rev. Patti Lingafelt if interested.

Youth Music Opportunities

Students in Middle School and High School have music time as part of Sunday afternoon youth activities. Handbell ringing and choral singing are included, with opportunities for worship leadership several times throughout the school year. Further, students who play instruments are encouraged to use their gifts in worship leadership throughout the year, working with the Minister of Music to select music and rehearse. Brenda Whiteman directs youth handbell choir and Rev. Patti Lingafelt directs the youth in singing.

Instrumental Music

Besides youth instrumental players, adults who play instruments are encouraged to play in worship services periodically throughout the year as well, working with the Minister of Music to select music, rehearse, and schedule presentation. Professional community musicians, such as brass players or string players, also occasionally enhance worship services. Contact Rev. Patti Lingafelt if interested.

Scripture and Stage

Periodically, participants are needed for dramatic readings of scripture or other dramatic parts of worship services. Prior drama experience is not necessary and participation is open to all. This group meets on an as-needed basis. Contact Pam Guidry-Vollers if interested. (
